    The short answer

Cultural-event markets — Met Gala themes, Tonys outcomes, awards predictions — have grown into a meaningful slice of the prediction landscape, with OG and Kalshi both running active slates.

Update — August 17, 2026. Checked again this week. The culture and event contracts below are still listed on [Kalshi](=AFF:kalshi) and [Polymarket](=AFF:polymarket); settled markets are marked as such in the body, and live prices come from the widget rather than this text.

The first Monday in May used to be a fashion event, then a celebrity event, and now — in a way that is very 2025 — it's also a market. Met Gala outcome contracts have quietly become one of the more-traded cultural events of the spring.

    What gets priced

The most active markets cluster around theme interpretations, attendee predictions, and headline-making moments. OG has been particularly fast at spinning these up; Kalshi runs cleaner long-form contracts on the bigger awards-season questions.

Tonys season overlaps with all of it. A new musical making a serious Tony run can drive volume on cultural markets the same way a Knicks playoff run drives volume on sports markets — except the audience skews Brooklyn, downtown, and creative-class instead of Garden-and-Citi-Field.

    Why it matters

Cultural markets aren't a niche anymore. They're a way for an audience that doesn't necessarily care about Fed cuts or playoff brackets to participate in the same mechanism — putting a number on the thing they're already arguing about.

"Brooklyn doesn't need a sportsbook. It needs a market on the Tonys."

    What to watch

    • Met Gala theme markets on OG as the date approaches.
    • Tonys nominations and category-winner contracts on OG and Kalshi.
    • Awards-season longs that bridge into late spring — Pulitzers, Cannes, summer culture moments.
