Where New Yorkers trade attention.
Seven venues, one editorial lens. Reviewed for fit, not for hype — the same way you'd recommend a bar in your neighborhood. Affiliate disclosure on every card.
Five platforms accept New Yorkers today, and we recommend three: Polymarket (our #1 pick, 49 states plus D.C., New York included), ProphetX (our #2 pick — CFTC-licensed and sports-first, now available in 49 states plus D.C.; trade $50 and get $75 with code NYPREDICTS), and Kalshi (our #3 pick — CFTC-regulated event contracts across politics, macro and sports). OG is our crypto-native event-market pick — culture, macro, trending — with $25 in rewards when you trade $25 for new traders (code NYPREDICTS); it's available in New York and live in 42 US states plus D.C. Novig, a peer-to-peer sports app, is available in New York too: deposit $10 and get $50 in trade credits with code NYPREDICTS.
New York is suing Kalshi (since July 31, 2026) and Polymarket US (since September 24, 2026), alleging unlicensed gambling. Both still accept New Yorkers and the cases are pending; the dated record is on our where-legal page.
The other three — Sleeper, Chalkboard, Rebet — are travel-only for New Yorkers. NY treats DFS pick'em products and sweepstakes-style social sports apps as restricted under the NY State Gaming Commission framework. New Yorkers can sign up and play those only when physically located in an eligible state.

Methodology
How we rank
This ranking is for people trading from inside New York. A platform that does not accept New Yorkers cannot be ranked, whatever it pays us.
- New York availability. Whether the platform accepts adult New York residents today, checked against its own eligible-state list. Rebet, Sleeper and Chalkboard do not, so they are listed separately as travel-only and never ranked.
- Regulation status. Whether trades run on an exchange registered with the CFTC, the federal derivatives regulator, and whether New York is disputing that in court.
- Fees. How clearly the cost of a trade is shown before you confirm. We only repeat fee figures the operator publishes.
- Market range. What you can trade (politics, economic data, sports, culture) and how deep the order books are on the main markets.
- Deposits and withdrawals. Minimum deposit, funding methods, identity checks and how withdrawals work.
- Sign-up offer. The size of the offer and what you must do to unlock it. Offers break ties; they do not decide the order.
Scores and order
Each review shows six editorial scores out of 5 (New York access, cost clarity, market depth, app, funding and payouts, support). They are one editor's judgement, not a lab test. The overall order is an editorial call too: Polymarket is first for market depth and for the size of its offer on a $10 deposit. If your device or the topic matters more to you, use the picks by use case.
Who tested what
Reviews are written by Catie Di Stefano. Kalshi was tested on her own funded account; the screenshots on the Kalshi review were taken on September 27, 2026. The Polymarket and OG screenshots, taken the same day, show the apps' screens only. We have not published funded-account screenshots for ProphetX or Novig; those two are assessed from the operators' published terms and their current offer sheets.
How we are paid
We earn a commission when you sign up through our links to Polymarket, ProphetX, Kalshi, OG, Novig and Rebet. Partners cannot pay for a position or change a review. We have no deal with Sleeper or Chalkboard. Affiliate disclosure.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Which prediction market platforms are legal in New York?
Five platforms accept New Yorkers today, and we recommend three: Polymarket (49 states plus D.C., New York included), ProphetX (CFTC-licensed, sports-first, live in 49 states plus D.C., New York included) and Kalshi (CFTC-registered event-contract exchange, 48 US jurisdictions including New York). OG, Crypto.com's prediction-market app (culture, sports, macro, trending), is available in New York and 41 other states plus D.C. — trade $25, get $25 in rewards with code NYPREDICTS when you sign up. Novig, a peer-to-peer sports app, is also available in New York: deposit $10 and get $50 in trade credits with code NYPREDICTS. New York is suing Kalshi (since July 31, 2026) and Polymarket (since September 24, 2026); both still accept New Yorkers and the cases are pending. The other three platforms we cover — Sleeper, Chalkboard, and Rebet — are NOT legal to play from inside New York under the state's DFS pick'em and sweepstakes-sports rules. They're travel-only options for New Yorkers.
Why are Sleeper, Chalkboard, and Rebet not legal in NY?
NY treats DFS-style pick'em products (Sleeper Picks, Chalkboard) and sweepstakes-style social sports apps (Rebet) as restricted under the NY State Gaming Commission framework and NY Penal Law Art. 225. Sleeper actually pulled Picks from NY when state fantasy-sports rules took effect. New Yorkers can sign up and play those three platforms only when physically located in an eligible state — they're packed-for-the-trip apps, not from-NY apps.
What is ProphetX and is it legal in New York?
ProphetX is a sports-first prediction market that the CFTC approved in June 2026 as both a designated contract market and a clearing organization, so it now operates in 49 states plus D.C. — New York included. You trade Yes/No contracts on games against other traders at order-book prices, not against a house. Check the app for other markets. New traders trade $50 and get $75 with code NYPREDICTS. 21+; eligibility varies by jurisdiction.
What's the difference between Kalshi and Polymarket?
Kalshi is a US-regulated event-contract exchange (CFTC). Polymarket is the world's largest prediction market; it returned to the US through a CFTC-regulated exchange and clearing organization, trades in dollars, and is live for US users in 49 states plus D.C., New York included.
What is OG and how does its trade $25, get $25 in rewards offer work?
OG is Crypto.com's prediction-market app, covering sports, culture, macro and trending news; trades clear through a CFTC-registered exchange. New traders who sign up through our affiliate link and enter code NYPREDICTS can trade $25 and get $25 in rewards. OG is available in 42 states plus D.C., including New York.
Are prediction market platforms the same as sportsbooks?
No. Prediction markets price the probability of an outcome and let users trade contracts against each other or an exchange. Sportsbooks — DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM — set fixed odds and take the other side of the bet themselves. Both are legal in NY under different frameworks.
Which platform is best for politics markets?
Kalshi runs the most active US politics slate, including the NYC mayoral race, federal elections, and policy markets — and it accepts New Yorkers, although the state is suing it. Polymarket's app is a strong second. ProphetX is built around sports; check the app for other markets.
Do these platforms offer sign-up bonuses?
Yes — Polymarket gives a $25 trading bonus on a $10 deposit (49 states plus D.C., New York included), ProphetX gives $75 when you trade $50 (sports-first, 49 states plus D.C.), Kalshi gives $25 when you trade $25 (code NYPREDICTS, 48 jurisdictions incl. New York), OG offers $25 in rewards when you trade $25 (available in New York; 42 states plus D.C.), Novig gives $50 in trade credits when you deposit $10 (available in New York), and Rebet matches 100% up to $100 (mobile-only, travel-only for NYers). Promos change frequently; we surface current offers on each review page.
