Postseason dates come from MLB's postseason schedule; 2027 dates come from MLB's 2027 schedule announcement and the opening matchups from ESPN and CBS Sports. The exact date of the Yankees' first 2027 game was not consistent across the sources we checked, so confirm it on the club schedule.

How did the Yankees' and Mets' 2026 seasons end?

The Yankees won 93 games and finished second in the American League East behind Tampa Bay, which meant a wild-card place rather than a bye. They beat Boston twice at Yankee Stadium to win the best-of-three Wild Card Series, then lost three straight to the Rays in the best-of-five Division Series. If the price later rises to $0.55, the buyer can sell before the season ends instead of waiting for settlement.

Three habits help with any baseball price:

• Read it as a probability, not as cheap or expensive. A low price is not a bargain by itself; it usually means the outcome is unlikely.
• Remember the size of the field. Twelve teams reach the postseason and the early rounds are short, so even a strong team is far from certain to win the title.

Why does a division title matter more than a wild card?

Under MLB's current postseason format, six teams from each league qualify. The two division winners with the best records in each league skip the first round. The other four play a best-of-three Wild Card Series in which the higher seed hosts every game.

That is why a division winner contract and a playoff qualification contract are different questions. A team can reach the postseason without winning its division, as the Yankees did in 2026, and then has to play an extra short round. A playoff qualification contract can be satisfied either way; a division contract cannot.

What can still be traded once both New York teams are out?

MLB has published a 2027 schedule with Opening Night on Wednesday, March 24, traditional Opening Day on Thursday, March 25, the All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 13, at Wrigley Field, and the regular season ending on Sunday, September 26. ESPN reports that baseball's labor contract expires on December 1, 2026, and that a management lockout is expected. In 2022 a late agreement pushed Opening Day back by a week.

The offseason calendar itself is part of those talks. Last offseason, players became free agents the morning after the World Series ended and could sign with a new club after a five-day window, according to CBS Sports. We have not seen confirmed dates for this offseason, so we do not list them here.
